Tuesdays race

April 29th, 2007

Results for Tuesday 24 April road race held at the motor racing circuit covering 6 laps, a distance of 20km.

Another good turn out this week on a mild night with no wind that was perfect for cycling and there were some very good times posted, particularly by the younger riders who are gaining in confidence and experience from the close racing that we are having on the circuit. The racing is very similar to criterium type races held on tight inner city circuits with short straights, sharp corners and close bunch racing. It requires a very different type of fitness to our usual 50 - 60km open road racing.

Barry Pritchard caught the bunch knapping with a withering burst near the end of the last lap and managed to hold on to the finish line to beat Wayne McConaghy, Cameron Todd and Nick Moss in a time of 29.40min.

Thank you once again to our time-keepers, Mike and Geoff. See you all again next week - remember to bolt on your aero bars for the monthly individual time trial.

This Sunday we will again be leaving from Top Gear Cycles at 8am for our usual club ride. Those of you more interested in a shorter club ride leaving at 9am please contact Sheryl at Top Gear Cycles or go to our website www.taupocyclingclub.org.nz for information.
