On Saturday in perfect overcast conditions with light winds 23 riders raced around the 25km circuit from Tukairangi Rd, Poihipi Rd, Mapara Rd and finished at the northern end of Tukairangi Rd. The riders enjoyed the long downhill finish after the grinding up the steady uphill of Tukairangi Road. The seniors racing 50km (2 laps) were split into two groups. The? fast group was won by Patrick Bevan in 1.18:25, followed 25sec later by Barry Pritchard, Wayne McConaghy and Grant Nichol - these three had a great sprint finish with Barry taking it out by half a wheel.
The second group of seniors was won by Alex in 1.33:00, with Chris Todd second 1.34:05 and Garth Lindsay and Graeme Usher next in 1.34:35.
Nick Moss rode away from the rest of the juniors finishing the 25km in 46.15min with Johnnie Beadle and Jordan thurston having a great battle for second in 47.15min - Johnnie got it by a nose!
Thank you very much to all the volunteers helping marshalling, etc and of course thank you very much to Top Gear Cycles who once again provided some fantastic spot prizes - Jenny Loe and Ben Watson went home with a very nice Pearl Izumi top each.
