On Saturday the Taupo Cycling Club ran the final event of their AvantiPlus Taupo Winter Series at the velodrome. 18 riders took advantage of a fine mild afternoon to indulge in some fast and close racing. For some it was a new experience riding the fixed gear track bikes? and at the end of the day everyone put up their hand for us to continue organising this type? of event in the future.

The rest of the afternoon was taken up with more sprints and giving the riders experience with kieren type sprint races where they spend 3 - 4 laps drafting behind a motor bike gradually increasing speed to a? final lap of all out sprint. It was an excellent opportunity for all our cyclists to improve their bike handling and racing skills.
