Taupo Velodrome Update

We are pleased to announce that we will be resuming our Wednesday night track sessions starting this Wednesday the 15th May 2019 as the new lights have now been installed. We and the Taupo District Council are aware that there are still some issues in regards to the final surface which are still being worked through but lets show our support by utilising this great resource. If you do not have a track bike the club has spare bikes (free for club members and available for a small hireage fee for non members) , just bring your own pedals. This is a great way to keep your pedals turning during winter and improve skills and fitness, come along from 5.30pm every Wednesday (weather permitting) If you wish to ride on the velodrome any other time there is now an online booking form or contact the Events Team on 07 376 0899 during business hours or submit a Request to Book a Venue form . You can just call in anytime in case the velodrome is free,  but if another person or group has a booking you will not be able to ride.

Dynamo Race Series

For the last 3 years the Taupo Cycle Club has entered a team in the Dynamo Team Series. This is a great way to experience riding in a team environment and have fun with fellow Club Members. We are now needing to start working on our teams for the next series and if you are interested in being part of this event  please contact us by the 5th June 2019. Please register your interest with Rachel Bartells by emailing her on rbartells@hotmail.com or      contacting her on 027 484 1550 with your name and what grade you would be interested in riding. If you would like more info on the series please go to https://www.dynamoevents.co.nz/event/the-team-championship-2019-20-race-1-cambridge/

or give Rachel a call. Once we have an idea of numbers we will decide how many teams the club will enter this year and what grade. Please note you must be a current club member to participate. You do not need to be available to ride every race but you do need to be able to commit to riding in a roster with your fellow team mates and to communicating with Rachel regarding your availability. The club will then contribute the team entry fee and each rider will pay the individual race fee for each event.

Taupo Cycle Challenge

The club has managed to secure a 10% discount code for club members to enter the 2019 event. Early bird entries open 1st June 2019 so if you are planning on entering this years event please email the secretary at secretarytaupocycling.org.nz and we will send you the code. This year there will also be a Club team event in the Friday night Criterium for teams of five riders, this is a great opportunity for our A & B grade riders to get in on the exciting racing available on the Friday so lets do Taupo proud and enter a team for inaugural bragging rights !!

IT Wizard Sought

The clubs website is coming up for renewal later in the year, we are looking for an IT Wizard / Guru who can assist us to ensure that we have the best platform available to be able to interact with our members and to get the information out to you. If you are able to assist us with either developing a new web site or even just advice about what we need please contact the secretary on secretarytaupocycling.org.nz

Members with Current First Aid Certificates

Do you have a current first aid certificate? As part of our Health & Safety planning we would like to put together a register of all of our Club Members who have a  current qualified First Aid qualification. If this is you can you please send your details through to secretary@taupocyclingclub.org.nz?

That's all from us for now, stay safe on the roads, make sure you are wearing high vis gear and use lights over the winter months , don't forget to utilise our new velodrome and get in touch with any feedback
