Taupo's Lewis Eccles has just been selected to ride a world cup track event in Columbia in the ELITE team sprint !! He will be the teams starter after some outstanding performances at this weeks training camp where he won all 3 250m TT's. New Zealand are the current World and Commonwealth Champions in the Team Sprint. Lewis teammates are Simon Van Velthoven (Rhino) and Zak Williams

Congratulations TCC Junior Development Squad members Jaymie King & Lewis Eccles who were join winners of the Ron Horsley Memorial Scholarship at the recent Taupo District Sports Awards. Jaymie went on to pick up the Junior Sportswoman of the Year Award and Lewis the Team of the Year Award as part of the TNT U19 Tri team. Well done !

Two junior Taupo riders competed at the long distance centre champs last Saturday and both came away with medals. Isla Sando won gold in the Girls U17 20 km TT, and Corby Price won silver in the Men U19 34.5 km TT.

The first night of the series on Tuesday the 2nd October is a skills night (not a race) for all grades, but targeted towards the beginner cyclists and juniors (aged from 13 yrs), or any more advanced riders wishing to brush up on pace line, bunch riding and cornering techniques after the winter months. We welcome all new riders for this skills night and will have experienced Club members on hand to assist.

The Taupo Cycling Club is pleased to advise the ever popular spring race series is back, commencing next Tuesday the 2nd October at 6pm, at the Taupo Motor Sport Park. The Taupo Motorsport Park offers the perfect training and racing environment as there is no traffic, plenty of room and 3.5km of smooth seal to ride on.

Sunday Morning Social Rides - These rides leave from outside Farmers, Tuwharetoa Street (Next to McDonalds drivethru) Taupo. Start time from Sunday 2nd September 8am sharp!

First week and stage of trip over for Corby Price. The Australian Champs has proved quite a full on start for the U19 NZ Development Squad.

As we descend into winter, there has still been allot of cycling to keep us motivated. The first race of interclub competition with Rotorua, and Tokoroa was a great success and was enjoyed by those who made the trip over to Rotorua. It’s our turn to run the race on June 24th and hope
to see many of our riders on Huka circuit.

At the beginning of May, the National champs where hosted by the Ramblers club (Hastings). Most of our junior riders competed along with Wayne McConarchy & Darren Hume. Sam Dobbs, Corby Price and Claire Hume all had very solid rides. The highlight of the weekend was Sheryl Duncan defending her road title.
